Brad McCarty has provided high tech engineering services to the electronics and optoelectronics industries since 1984. Prior to becoming a consultant to HawlTech Inc. in July, 2011, Brad was employed as micro circuit packaging and assembly engineer by Texas Instruments, Dallas Semiconductor, MAXIM Integrated Products, and OptiComp Corporation. He also performed microwave substrate drawing and quality specification reviews, inside sales and customer service for custom fabricator Diablo Industries Thin Film. Brad’s formal education is in physical chemistry, achieving his M.S. degree from Texas A&M University.
A versatile contributor, Brad’s specialties include: flip chip assembly, pick & place, chip scale package development, micro batteries, offshore IC assembly, ceramic substrate, solid state device fabrication, process engineering, reliability testing, cleanups, machine vision, photography, robotics, mechanical modeling and analysis, assembly tool design, photo mask design, prototyping, ISO quality systems, document control, technical writing, computer aided drafting, micro laser testing, magnetics testing, and custom wound component design. At HawlTech Brad has delivered key results in the areas of lighting ballast design, inductor and transformer design, printed circuit board design, and reverse engineering.
Brad’s interests include skiing, audio systems, church activities, visiting the nearby Sierra Nevada Mountains, playing harmonica, reading, family, and his pet Pomeranian.
